Why do you call your flavored peanut butters "spreads"?
Peanut "butter" must contain at least 90 percent peanuts, like our Organic Valencia Peanut Butter does. Our Flavored Peanut Butter Spreads contain between 50% - 75% peanuts, depending on the flavor. The rest is just fun yummy flavor!
How is your peanut butter made and how do I know it's fresh?
Well, first of all, we mix our nuts and flavors at the base of our recipe - before the nuts are even ground. We don't just add a little flavored extract to peanut butter like some of the other companies do. And you know it's fresh because we make peanut butter every day....that's pretty fresh. Wow!
Your whole product line is Gluten Free?
Absolutely! We don't use any wheat or wheat family products at all! And remember, peanuts are naturally gluten free.
Which products are certified Organic?
Our Organic Valencia and Organic Unsalted of course! We put it right in the name so as not to confuse you. And Organic standards prohibit the use of genetically modified ingredient (GMO) too! Using organic nuts means that our ingredients are free of pesticides and herbicides. Better for the planet too!
How should I store my peanut butter and how long will it last?
Well, that depends on how fast you eat it!! No, just kidding. We know you meant how long can you store it! If you store your jars in a cool dry place, they will last for at least 12 months. Although our products aren't perishable, the nuts could begin to smell after a year. No refrigeration necessary. Remember that the peanut butter will be harder to spread when cold so..... if you choose to store it in the refrigerator, you may want to whip it up a bit before spreading.
I read in a magazine that peanut butter should be kept in the refrigerator like other condiments. Is this true?
Well, the answer is maybe! Heloise, in her famous column, 'Hints From Heloise', says that "peanut butter does NOT need to be refrigerated. Its consistency may change in cold temperatures, making it thicker. You should refrigerate the peanut butter to keep it at its freshest, but it will be hard to spread." However, remember that it lasts longer if refrigerated. (See question above.)
I'd like to send a gift set to a friend. Can you include a gift card?

We're happy to help in whatever way we can. Just let us know the message you'd like on the gift card in the comments section at checkout.
How many peanuts are in a jar of Organic Peanut Butter?
Most national brands contain about 560 peanuts in a 12oz jar. Our Organics have more naturally since Valencia peanuts are smaller....and more is always better, right?
Why did you change from glass jars to plastic jars?
We pride ourselves on being environmentally friendly. We originally chose glass because it's totally recyclable, and we thought that was the best move for the environment. We've since learned that we're using more fossil fuels shipping the heavy weight glass around the country, as opposed to the lighter weight BPA FREE plastic. And...the plastic jars we use are recyclable too. So....our planet is even happier now! Hug, hug!!
Are peanuts good for you?
Oh my gosh, yes....as long as you don't eat gobs and gobs of them in one sitting! Peanuts are a very good source of monounsaturated fats. In addition, peanuts are a good source of niacin, folate, copper, manganese, and protein. Lauren of aroundtheplate.org talks about the health benefits of peanut butter. She says, "it is chock-full of nutrients. Here are some great reasons to add it to your diet: Over 30 nutrients and phytonutrients in each 2 Tbsp serving, a natural, plant-based source of protein, a good source of Vitamin E, magnesium and phosphorus, an excellent source of niacin (20% DV), and contains healthy monounsaturated (8g) and polyunsaturated fats (4.5g)."
I've heard that peanut butter helps reduce the risk of heart disease. Is it true?
In 2003, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved this package label "qualified" health claim for nuts: "Scientific evidence suggests but does not prove that eating 1.5 ounces per day of most nuts, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease.” Our organic peanut butters are made from 100% Valencia peanuts (nothing else!). Though nuts are a higher-fat food, it is mostly heart-healthy unsaturated fat and may help lower low-density lipoproteins (LDL or "bad" cholesterol). Nuts also are recommended as part of the DASH diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension), a dietary plan clinically proven to significantly reduce blood pressure. The DASH diet is supported by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and recommends 4 to 5 servings per week from its "nuts, seeds and legumes" grouping. For more information and a copy of the DASH diet, go to:www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/public/heart/hbp/dash.
Will peanut butter help me control my weight?
Researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Harvard School of Public Health found three times as many people trying to lose weight were able to stick to a Mediterranean-style moderate-fat weight loss diet that included nuts, peanuts and peanut butter versus the traditionally recommended low-fat diet. (International Journal of Obesity, Oct. 5, 2001). As long as you control total calories, eating a handful of nuts daily may help prevent weight gain and possibly promote weight loss. The fat, protein and fiber in nuts help you feel full longer, so you may eat less during the day. By helping induce a feeling of satiety, nuts may help people feel less deprived and not like they're "dieting." Just limit your portion to a healthy amount. The FDA recommendation suggests up to 1.5 ounces of nuts daily or one and a half times a "handful.
What about diabetes?
Our Organic Valencia and Organic Unsalted Peanut Butters are totally sugar free! Great food for diabetics! And women in a Harvard School of Public Health study who reported eating 5 or more 1 ounce servings of nuts/peanuts per week reduced their risk of Type 2 diabetes by almost 30 percent compared to those who rarely or never ate nuts. Women in the study who ate five tablespoons of peanut butter each week reduced their risk for Type 2 diabetes almost 20 percent. (Journal of the American Medical Association, Nov. 27, 2002). And remember, our CinnaYum Peanut Butter Spread has only a trace of sugar so....that's 0 grams!
Where can I find the ingredients list and the nutrition info for your products?

What is Whey Protein Isolate?
WPI is a very pure high protein form of whey and is absorbed quickly by our digestive system and therefore shuttled rapidly to the muscles. For this reason, it is considered a ver fast-acting protein and is best taken pre- or post-workout. You might notice that WPI leaves you feeling less full than Whey Protein Concentrate. This is because of the speed at which the body digests and processes it. WPI is practically carb-free and fat-free. Consider WPI a post-workout supplement rather than a whey protein meal replacement. What is Casein Protein?
Micellar casein is derived from best-quality skim milk which goes through an advanced filtration process. It's a popular choice for the final meal before bed, or as a snack during the day between meals. Micellar casein protein is digested slowly and absorbed over a number of hours, keeping you in a healthy anabolic state over a long period. This prevents muscle tissue from potentially being broken down and keeps it primed for growth. (Source: BulkPowders.com)
